Event Details

As technology transforms the way we live and work, citizens are looking to government for more transparency and simplicity. Innovators at the cutting edge within government and the private sector are reimagining the way we run elections, the way we finance campaigns, and the way we vote. These public-private collaborations are creating more responsive governments and more informed, engaged voters.

Join the NYC Campaign Finance Board and our partners for practical demonstrations of new approaches to voting and elections from around the United States—including our own NYC Votes.

– NYC Votes, Democracy Works, and the Open Source Election Technology (OSET) Foundation will demonstrate their work and case studies of implementations in New York City, the state of Virginia, and county election offices across the country.

– John Kaehny, Co-Chair of the NYC Transparency Working Group, will moderate a panel on Opportunities and Obstacles for Voting and Campaign Finance Technology, featuring:

  • Art Chang, Chair, New York City Voter Assistance Advisory Committee

  • Greg Miller, Co-Founder and Chief Development Officer, OSET Foundation

  • Seth Flaxman, Co-Founder and Executive Director, Democracy Works

  • Michael Ryan, Executive Director, NYC Board of Elections

  • Doug Kellner, Co-Chair, New York State Board of Elections

  • Amy Loprest, Executive Director, NYC Campaign Finance Board

A very, very special THANK YOU to our friends at New York Law School for the use of their beautiful event space for this discussion!

New tools and technology for better elections

The Campaign Finance Board is a nonpartisan, independent city agency that enhances the role of New York City residents in elections. The CFB’s mission is to increase voter participation and awareness, provide campaign finance information to the public, enable more citizens to run for office, strengthen the role of small contributors, and reduce the potential for actual or perceived corruption.
