Seeing Sound, Tasting Thought. Synesthesia and The Brain with Dr Clare Jonas
Resident syneasthete and researcher for multi-sensory immersive company Bittersuite, Dr Clare Jonas will lead a workshop of activities and discussions about how synaesthesia works, what it's like to have it, art that draws on synaesthesia and how you, too, might be able to experience synaesthesia... or at least something like it.
WHAT is synesthesia!?
Synesthesia is a neurological condition in which the senses become melded together so that music might seem to have textures, or words have colours. In this two-hour workshop join Clare in delving into the brilliant world of a synaesthete.
Dr Clare Jonas is a lecturer in the School of Psychology for the University of East London and was a teaching fellow at the University of St Andrews from 2011 to 2013. Clare's main interest of research explores multisensory perception (including synaesthesia) and metaphorical and embodied cognition. She has been an advisor and creative concultant for BitterSuite since 2013.
