Lauren Doriahna is a writer and a poet who fell in love with writing, at the age of eight. She is originally from Detroit, MI and became a resident of GA, in the early nineties. She continued to grow in the performing arts throughout high school and college. During her time in college, at Emory University, she majored in English. She studied the works of the great poets from the Victorian, Renaissance, and Jazz Movement. By studying the great works of the past, she found that some of the most admired poets were those who wrote about relevant and current issues. Therefore, her poems are diverse and many are centered on issues that impact society.
She has made ten appearances on Atlanta radio station V-103's show, "Poetic moments." She has performed at various open mics, colleges, radio shows and for a television pilot. Some of her feature performances include the following: 89.3 FM WRFG Radio, Be100 Radio, Opening act for the Amazing Grace Dancers at the luxurious Center Stage Theatre in Atlanta, Only Featured Poet at the UnSceneShreveport Arts Festival in Shreveport, Louisiana,The Artist League (TV pilot) produced by actor Tommy Ford, Apache Cafe, Gordon College, West Hunter Baptist Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Auburn University, Rhythm and Rhyme Louge in Auburn, Alabama, Underground Coffee in Greenville, SC, House of Rhymez, Pathways of Life~ Independent Film filmed in Chicago, IL, Hotwordz Lyrical Theater,
She also the content/creative producer for a monthly poetry segment on 89.3 FM for Ridin Durty Radio. www.wrfg.org
She created an organization for teens ages 13-18 in 2010, called Teens Igniting Change ATL. She was inspired to create the organization by the teen she mentored who lived in a homeless shelter. The organization sponsors workshops, open mics, and youth discussions. The organization is for teens and "run" by the teens she mentors. Please visit the website www.ticatl.weebly.com
