Joseph LMS GreenJoseph LMS Green is a Washington, D.C.-based performance artist and educator with more than nine years professional experience. As a solo artist Joseph LMS has performed at venues and schools throughout the United States. A four-time qualifier and participant in the National Poetry Slam, he has represented the Oneonta Slam team as their Grand Slam Champion (twice, 2005-06), as well as Slam Richmond (2009),
and DC’s Beltway Poetry Slam Team (2011, ranked 5th in the nation). As the Beltway Poetry Slam representative at the Individual World Poetry Slam in 2011, Joseph ranked 16th out of 80 poets from across the nation.

For five years, he has coached the Hayfield Secondary School Forensic Speech Team. As an actor he toured with the educational entertainment group Theatre IV, the country’s largest in school touring company. He toured two and a half years at more than 200 high schools and professional theatres educating children and families.

His one-man show, “She Is,” was commissioned by the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts at the Wilbur Mansion in Oneonta, N.Y. (2007). He has self-published a poetry chapbook called “Her and Everything Else” (2010), and a poetry album entitled “Unmastered – Vol. One” (2005).

Joseph LMS Green is currently producing his first full-length book of poetry and recording his second full-length spoken word album. He is also working to further establish “poetry.N.O.W.” the afterschool creative writing program he co-founded in Northern Virginia.

Chris SlaughterChris Slaughter graduated from Medgar Evers College with a degree in English (concentration in creative writing) and obtained an MFA in poetry from Hunter College where he received a Shuster Award for outstanding master thesis. He has also received fellowships from Cave Canem and North Country Institute for Writers of Color. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he has dedicated himself to traveling and working inventive ways of bringing new voice to his writing. He has also read/performed his poetry at numerous colleges, Cafés, trains, and anywhere he could herald his voice. At the age of 21, Chris wrote and self-published a book entitled Hear My Cries The Street jazz and ghetto blues of an only child. This publication was very personal and revealing, which in-turn opened many opportunities. He’s been interviewed and published in magazines, newspapers, and academic journals. Chris has had his back to the black board, and his heart facing a class room for the past 8 years. First an all-boys high school in the Bronx New York at Urban Assembly Academy of History & Citizenship on the Taft High School campus, then he worked at Metropolitan Expeditionary Learning School in Forest Hill Queens, now he is a writing specialist at Harlem Children Zone while chipping away at his new manuscript.
