Monday Night Open Mic! A Busboys and  Poetry Event   For two hours audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week.

Hosted Tonight By Drew Law

Tonight's host is Drew Law

Drew Law is a rare breed of entertainer; branching out into several different categories of performing arts with relentless fervor, and showmanship. A Hip-Hop artist who has opened for such superstars as Method Man, Pitbull, EPMD, Biz Markie, Slick Rick, and Dougie Fresh. Drew is also a renowned poet in the city of Washington, D.C. touching on subjects of love, heartbreak, and struggle. Drew is a member of the 2011 Beltway Slam team who finished in the top 8 in the country and 2011 NUSPA (National Underground Spoken Word Poetry Awards) nominee for "Best Performance: Male."

Drew Law has featured at venues such as "Spit Dat", "Warm Wednesday's, "The 11th Hour Slam", and "Busboys and Poets". Also performing in other cities such as New York, New Jersey, Tennessee, and North Carolina. He has also held workshops at several high schools, ranging from DC to to New York. Drew Law has a background in working with at risk youth, and has worked with persons with disabilities for over six years now. He holds a deep passion for his American & Palestinian roots. Drew Law tries to approach every performance like its his last, and holds a deep love for entertaining, and community outreach.


Goldie Deane

Goldie E. Deane is a playwright, author, scholar, artist and teacher of hip-hop culture.  A Detroit Native, Deane made Washington DC Her home after graduating from Howard University.  Her recent self-published book of poetry; Soulatude,  explores social consciousness in community, love, and spirituality. She is founder and CEO of the organization F.R.E.S.H.H. Inc, Females Representing Every Side of Hip-Hop; a hip-hop womanist organization dedicated to reinforcing what is bold, brilliant, powerful, and resilient in Black girls of all ages. A self-proclaimed "hip-hop womanist", Goldie has gained recognition for her educational work aimed at bridging the generational divide around hip-hop.
