Event description
Learn to connect teams to purpose: the bedrock of ownership, engagement and autonomy.

About this Event

Description

Do you lead people in IT or tech? Would you like your teams to step up & be more autonomous? Would you like to spend less time managing tasks and more time leading?

Then this is the course for you!

Whether you follow Simon Sinek, Daniel Pink or Google, there’s already overwhelming evidence that the key to unlocking team performance is a connection with purpose; a connection with WHY. Those organisations and teams that connect to purpose execute better, innovate more and are more adaptable to change.

Today, with such high change in technology and business, the importance of this connection has never been greater.

However, while many of us work in organisations where there is a known purpose, helping teams and individuals connect to it is much easier said than done.

This 1-day workshop will give you ideas, techniques and tools that will help you understand and convey your purpose in a way that is better understood and allows people to connect.

Outcomes

By joining and engaging with the workshop exercises, you will:

  1. Understand why a connection with (not just awareness of) a vision or goal fuels performance
  2. Have a clearer understanding and/or personal connection to your company’s vision
  3. Increase others’ connection with that vision when you’re communicating and influencing
  4. Gain practice and the opportunity to refine the delivery of your vision to others
  5. Learn some further techniques that can help connect layers of an organisation to vision, including an introduction to Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
  6. Understand some relevant brain science and human psychology that relates to communication and how you can adjust your messages to work with it
  7. Develop some ideas for team-engagement events, 'unconferences' or other reviews that will help you convey your message. You will even begin planning your next event!
  8. Discover why some leaders seem to be much better at communicating vision than others
  9. Understand the risk, waste and impact of assumptions in vision

What will I get?

  • A guided, 1-day workshop with practical, repeatable tools that you will be able to use immediately
  • Lunch, snacks, water, teas and coffees throughout the day
  • A module workbook with all the exercises and some of our most recent insights
  • A copy of Simon Sinek’s ‘WHY?’, Daniel Pink’s ‘Drive’ and John Doerr’s ‘Measure What Matters’ to support some of the concepts discussed.
  • 2 x 30-minute calls with Stephen to provide support in your context (held within 12 weeks of the training )

Who should attend?

Our courses are designed for people leading teams in IT (especially in changeable environments) and other leaders with rapidly growing or changing teams.

You might be a CTO, a technical manager, an IT director, a development director, a team lead, an operations lead, a COO, a project or programme director. That doesn’t matter. What does matter is that you have:

  1. A willingness to learn
  2. A desire to improve your skill and results as a leader of people
  3. An intent to help your teams go further
