Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

For two days each October, the annual Open House New York Weekend unlocks the doors of New York’s most important buildings, offering an extraordinary opportunity to experience the city and meet the people who design, build, and preserve New York

During OHNY Weekend, visitors can relax and enjoy musical performances by current I-House residents from around the world in the Main Lounge, a true living room that features a working fireplace with a hand carved mantle and two marble staircases, all designed in the Classical Revival style the Rockefellers favored. They can also visit the Soros Room (rarely open to the public), which features 1834 hand-blocked wallpaper, “Scenes of North America” by Zuber, a French manufacturer, and designed by Jean-Julien Deltil. (The same wallpaper can be found in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House, installed by Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961.)

Guided tours will be given at 12, 1, 2, and 3 pm Saturday and Sunday.
