Trainers present for questions: Nicolas Fournier and Matt Siegel



Nicolas Fournier lives in Montréal, Canada and studied visual communication in Hamburg Kunstfachhochschule from 1986 to 88. He was a press photographer in Germany and South America from 1988 to 1996, and then because a 1st camera assistant (focus puller) for features and TV series from 1996 to 2007, and a camera operator from 2006 to 2008. He served as a DP on Documentaries from 2005 to 2008 and since 2008 has been an active digital cinema camera techniques and developer in Montréal at VideoMtl and Toronto at Dazmo Camera rental houses. He is also an experienced colorist and compositer.

Over the years, Nicolas has been involved in a wide variety of workflow development in the Canadian industry along with all types of cameras in all possible situations.

Nicolas is an active trainer at Aqtis (Québec Technician Union), INIS (National Institute for Image and Sound), CSC (Canadian Society of Cinematographers), and IATSE 514 .

Since January 2017, he has served as senior imagery technical services manager, digital workflow supervisor, and digital cinema camera head technician at MTL Grande Studios and MTL Grande Camera.

He also speaks the following languages: French, German, English, and Spanish.

Matt Siegel is an award-winning producer and director of photography. He designs, composes, and lights for commercials, features, episodic TV/VOD, documentaries, and branded content. His commercial clients include Google, Toyota, Ford, SONY, Audi, MasterCard, Microsoft, and Coca-Cola, with multi-platform branding campaigns filmed for Bayer, Honda, CVS, Timberland, and the US Army. His commercial work has won international recognition, including ADDY, TELE, Cannes’ Golden Lion, and Cable ACE awards.

In addition to commercial production, Matt has extensive industry experience as a 2nd Unit DP and Camera Operator on episodic television, including the WB series Everwood, the CBS drama Joan of Arcadia, the Jerry Bruckheimer series Just Legal, and the CBS series The Mentalist. As a feature film camera operator, he has worked on The Matrix: Reloaded, Master and Commander, and Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

While shooting reality and adventure TV, Matt has traveled the globe with Animal Planet, Asian Food Network, Comedy Central, Discovery, Discovery Kids, HGTV, Smithsonian Channel, and the Travel Channel.

In the realm of new media, Matt has created popular viral marketing campaigns for Hasbro and Reebok. He enjoys collaborating with YouTube’s Creator Space and Google's Studio G and The Google X Lab, assisting in cutting edge R&D for projects like Google Glass and the WayMo Driverless Car Project.

Matt balances his professional film career by conducting camera and lighting workshops around the world, demonstrating production techniques and new technology for the ARRI Academy. As a founder and cinematography professor, Matt lent his professional expertise to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts-Asia.

He served on the National Executive Board and Western Regional Council of the International Cinematographers Guild, IATSE Local 600, designing and implementing the Union’s nationwide Technology Training Programs.

His Introduction to Digital Cinematography was published by John Wiley and Sons, Ltd., London.
