Online event

The next Open edX virtual meetup will feature two experts in online education, focused on enhancing student engagement to optimize learning.

About this event

The first presenter of the August Open edX meetup is Hen Eytan, Co-Founder and CEO of Annoto.

Annoto is a 3rd party Open edX provider, focused on delivering innovative UX for optimizing student interaction & engagement, delivered through video content. Hen will discuss how to engage your users with In-Context Discussions and Assessments and how to increase student engagement, retention, and stickiness in your online courses.

It is currently challenging for students to find the appropriate context, get answers, and continue discussions in discussion forums. Learn how instructors and course designers can improve their course content with Annoto’s interactive layers and analytics.

The second presenter is Elizabeth Madariaga, Co-Founder of Edios Media.

Edios Media is an Open edX Marketplace provider and an award-winning, education video production agency that’s reimagining the way people learn.

The majority of open enrollment online courses are created in English, by native speakers. As our global community grows closer and the need to upskill increases, we need to think about empowering learners all over the world to benefit from the incredible opportunities online learning provides, in the language they speak. But, translating a full course worth of material can be a really complicated process. Wrangling thousands of files that need to be duplicated into multiple languages can overwhelm even the calmest of project managers.

Edios Media has learned a lot in the past few years, translating multiple courses in nearly a dozen languages. In this session, Edios Media Co-Founder, Elizabeth Madariaga, will discuss some best practices they’ve uncovered to help make the translation process smoother. By the end of this session you will have a clearer idea of what you need to think about as you embark on localizing your courses.

Don't miss this opportunity to learn how you can change your students' learning experience.

We look forward to seeing you online, as we will demonstrate it live!

Best regards,

The Open edX Team
