Who’s involved?
Kindred has worked with St Helens Borough Council for the last three years to support and increase the growth of the town’s vibrant social economy. The ‘Street and a Half’ building opened in late 2024, as a focal point for this activity. Street and a Half is managed on Kindred’s behalf by Make, which has a strong track record of building creative, social impact communities, with existing spaces in Birkenhead, Huyton and Liverpool’s North Docks.
Why we are doing this
Social business makes up around 10% of the economy in Liverpool City Region and is set to grow – Kindred’s ambition is to make this 20%. The social economy puts lived experience and local expertise at the heart of decision-making, creating an opportunity for inclusive growth, flexible, purpose-driven work and transformational impact in the places we live and work.
