Open Cyclocross and Road Cycling Clinic for Women and Juniors
Event Information
Event description
Description
We are stepping outside the box and offering a free cycling clinic like no other for beginners in support of women and juniors. This clinic will offer a road clinic for beginner women (18 and up) and a cyclocross clinic for both women of all ages and junior boys/girls ages 8 and up. 2 clinics coinciding at once-mind blowing right? Don't worry we are experienced at this and want nothing more than to get more women and kids on bikes. Each of these disciplines complements each other very well so we are organizing it in a way to benefit all involved, while everyone gets exposed to both so win-win. SKILLS is vital to both road cycling and cyclocross so the first half of the clinic will focus on skills. Coaches will help riders learn skills through various drills, games, and exercises that are fun and oh so useful! Then the second half of the clinic sessions will divide up into groups (road and cyclocross) to do more specific learning for each discipline. This clinic will cover the basics in each discipline. Both groups can expect to learn handling skills and basic mechanics of bikes. Women in the road clinic will learn group riding basics such as etiquette, safety, rotating, and more. Women and juniors in the cyclocross clinic will learn the basics of cyclocross such as barrier jumping, riding in different types of terrain, dismounting/remounting, quick starts, and more.
Women wanting to attend the beginner road cycling clinic should bring: a road bike, tennis shoes, helmet, nutrition, and cycling shoes-if you wear them.
Women and juniors wanting to attend the beginner cyclocross clinic should bring: a bike (can be gravel, cyclocross, mountain bike, or anything that works really road bike not recommended), tennis shoes, helmet, cycling shoes-if you wear them, and nutrition.
All participants and/or guardians of juniors will need to sign a waiver and be ready to have fun. The clinic will be open-meaning free and our gift to the community, however, we do need those wanting to participate to get a free "ticket" so we can make plans accordingly.
Parents of juniors-if you are not participating in the clinic that is just fine, but we do ask that you stay during the clinic if your child is younger than 13 years old.
Participants should just look for the other cyclists upon arrival at Mt. Kessler.
