Event Details

ONUG and SDN Hub are partnering to bring together the SDN developer community through a fun hackathon. This will be the first ever SDN hackathon in the east coast!

For this hackathon, you will form groups of maximum 4 people and build a few "bite-sized" SDN applications. Each group will build an useful and easily deployable open-source SDN application that will benefit the user community, especially those represented by the ONUG board. We will send out suggestions for applications 1 week in advance, although you're welcome to come up with your own idea.

On May 4, we will meet at a virtual IRC chat venue, and start hacking. On May 5, we will continue coding at the ONUG venue where lunch and refreshments will be provided. On May 6, the teams will demonstrate their project in front of the ONUG attendees. The top 3 teams ranked by the judges will get cash awards:

  • 1st place: $500 per group member

  • 2nd place: $300 per group member

  • 3rd place: $150 per group member

The ONUG SDN Hackathon is privileged to have the following IT business leaders as judges:

  • Ernest Lefner, SVP Architecture & Engineering Executive at Bank of America Corporation

  • Conrad Menezes, Global IT and Information Security Leader, Former VP of IT at Sears Holding

  • Aryo Kresnadi, Chief Engineer, FedEx

Participation is open to all, including academics, DevOps, network engineers, and industry veterans that are registered to attend the ONUG Spring 2014 conference. Register before the 30 seats are taken!
