Professor Guy McPherson and Pauline Schneider will be offering The Only Love Remains workshop in Vermont. July 8 and 9 2022

About this event

You've come to grips with near-term human extinction. It's a lonely conclusion, one that interferes with many relationships. You want somebody with whom to discuss the most important topic in the history of our species. It seems most of your friends and family are in denial. The daily distractions of war, inflation, social media, and celebrity mania, leave little time to thoughtfully grieve our planet's demise.

Now what?

In response to numerous requests, we have developed a workshop to address this issue. The workshop follows naturally from Guy McPherson's presentations on abrupt climate change. It's the logical next step for those interested in pursuing healthy psyches and healthy relationships after concluding the worst.

This workshop distills hundreds of hours of scholastic reading, deep introspection, and facilitated practice into an eight-hour workshop. Though it is inspired by the Grief Recovery Method and Joanna Macy's workshops, It is not a grief-recovery workshop, instead, it is a synthesis of our professional expertise in light of near-term human extinction. It is an active, interactive experience focused on the topic of living fully in light of evidence pointing toward the near-term loss of habitat for humans on Earth.

Workshop registration includes participation in the workshop and also:

(1) snacks and refreshments on both days, and (2) lunch and dinner on the second day of the workshop.

A 90-minute session Friday morning begins at 10:00 a.m. local (Eastern) time.

The remainder of the day will be used to complete exercises, explore the local sights, ask questions about the exercises, and visit with facilitators and other participants.

Facilitators and participants will convene Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. to discuss results of Friday's activities.

Moderated discussions will continue until about noon, after which facilitators and participants will share lunch.

The last few hours of the workshop will be conducted after lunch.

We will finish by4:30 p.m., after which BBQ dinner will be served at our home.

Special dietary needs will be honored as we are able.

We will accept the first 16 registrants for each workshop.

We will cancel the workshop if we receive fewer than 6 reservations at the 2-week mark before the workshop begins. We will reimburse registration fees, but not travel costs, if a workshop is canceled at that time.
