Description

In 2017, my New Year’s resolution was to read more and I decided to kick it off with the debut novel of my friend Rhiannon Navin. Hands down, it was the best book I read all year…and I read a pre-edited version!

Only Child tells the incredible story of 6-year-old Zach, who survives a school shooting. The novel explores the aftermath of this tragedy, tackling a difficult subject with dignity, love and even a little humour.

So it is with great pleasure that Only Child will debut in the UK early next month!

To celebrate, I am proudly co-hosting a launch event to celebrate! Come join Rhiannon and me at an exclusive launch event at The Library Club on March 7th, 2018 where you will enjoy a reading from her book followed by a moderated discussion. Moderator to be announced.

In a world where the gun-control debate is often reduced to nothing more than a statistic, this book inspires everyone to think about the victims, survivors and community in a different way. In the US, tens of thousands die from gun violence every year…this book surely will serve as a springboard for more focused discussion on gun safety.

A bit about the venue:

The LIBRARY is a private members club focused on enhancing the member experience through the provision of a lifestyle service, fine dining and an exciting cultural events programme. This event is open to Non-members and is Free!

A bit more about ONLY CHILD:

If you are a fan of Room, The Lovely Bones and The Fault in Our Stars than this is a book that will grab you from the very first sentence and not let you go until long after you have finished.

Squeezed into a coat closet with his classmates and teacher, first grader Zach Taylor can hear gunshots ringing through the halls of his school. A gunman has entered the building, taking nineteen lives and irrevocably changing the very fabric of this close-knit community. While Zach's mother pursues a quest for justice against the shooter's parents, holding them responsible for their son's actions, Zach retreats into his super-secret hideout and loses himself in a world of books and art. Armed with his newfound understanding, and with the optimism and stubbornness only a child could have, Zach sets out on a captivating journey towards healing and forgiveness, determined to help the adults in his life rediscover the universal truths of love and compassion needed to pull them through their darkest hours.
