Learn the basics of growing vegetables this winter course so that you can grow your own food this Spring and Summer! Join Meg Paska of Brooklyn Homesteader as she teaches the basics of soil management, garden planning, planting, trellising, organic pest management, maintenance and harvesting...the foundations of gardening all from the comfort of your own home! We'll also spend time focusing on techniques to maximize the amount of food you can grow in a smaller space.
In this two session, 6 hour online course students will view videos and detailed presentations that will give them the confidence to start your own small garden this season. Whether you have a patio, backyard or a rooftop, Meg will advise new growers how to make the most of their outdoor space and how to tackle any problems with gusto!
This course takes place on two consecutive Sundays (January 13t and January 20th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST) Recorded versions are available after the class has been taught.
Former Brooklyn urban farmer Meg Paska has taken what she learned about intensive urban growing and applied it to small acreage in Monmouth County, NJ. Working alongside Seven Arrows East, a year-round yoga retreat, The Homestead functions as a small, diversified CSA farm and learning place. Farming workshops also take place year-round.
