Event description

Description

The Pitch-Draft-Revise workshop will meet every other Tuesday for 6 total sessions over 12 weeks. (Dates: Sept. 24th, Oct. 8th, Oct. 22nd, Nov. 5th, Nov. 19th, Dec. 10th.)

Aims of this workshop:

  • Draft and Refine pitches for print/digital outlets,

  • Draft work based on pitches discussed in workshop, and

  • Revise work based on feedback received within 1 week.

For each stage we’ll spend about 2 sessions discussing what works, what doesn’t, and how to hone in on voice and outlet to find the best home for your work. Pitch/submission examples will be provided at workshop for review. We’ll go over elements of pitches piecemeal as well as revised work and how revisions were implemented to gain a sense of individual process. At every session participants are expected to have at least one pitch/piece to get reviewed. The purpose of meeting every other week is to give participants time to draft/revise their work within a specified period of time. Participants can work on more than one project at their leisure/discretion. Line edits will be provided by me for all work critiqued as part of the workshop.

This workshop is best suited for those who want to strengthen their work to land in various publications as a freelancer or contributing writer and can produce based on a clear vision. This workshop is also more specific to nonfiction than to other forms of writing based on how pitches work within the industry. I’m also happy to do a one-on-one session with participants on a “free” week during the workshop or soon after it ends.
