Class Time/Date: 10am-3pm / August 5, 6, 7

Schedule: 3 sessions plus 1 performance August 8 at 7pm

Class size: 12 students maximum

Class length: 4 hours (12 hours total) +1 performance

Prerequisites: Studio scenework or above

Tuition: $195

The confessional booth interview. The voiceover reflecting on past memories. The coveted deleted scenes. Learn the craft and experience the joy of improvising comedy documentaries - perfect for Zoom performance. This class culminates in a showcase performance.

About Chris

Chris Sams is delighted to return to teen camp improv coaching, even if "Head in a Jar" virtually. Chris has taught in BATS School of Improv for 14 years for adults, from Intro basics to performance levels like the Harold and Improvised Comedy Documentaries. Chris has performed on 12 different BATS Cave Match teams during a 10 year span, including as captain of the Graffiti Linguists freestyle improv. He's performed with Un-Scripted Theatre Company in three runs of "You Bet Your Improvisor," two runs of "SuperScene," and one year of late night 1-hour spontaneous short form performances of "DASH."

Most recently Chris has performed freestyle rap improv here in San Francisco with Dead Beat Poets Society in Comedy Rap Live. By day, Chris leads corporate applied improv workshops in the Bay Area and beyond, working with over 250 companies and organizations during his 14-year workshop facilitation career. By night, he guests as host of the Blank Show, as performed by BATS Main Stage Company since May 2020.

Refund Policy:

BATS Improv Class Refund Policy: Class cancellation policy: If you cancel more than 96 hours (4 days) before a class begins, we will refund your tuition less a 15% processing fee. If you cancel within 96 hours (4 days) of your first class, your tuition will be forfeit. Summer Youth and Adult Sessions cancellation policy: If you cancel more than 14 days (2 weeks) before your first class, we will refund your tuition less a 15% processing fee. If you cancel within 14 days (2 weeks) of your first class, your tuition will be forfeit. All cancellation and refund requests must be emailed to registrar@improv.org, and include the title and start date of your class. In the event that we cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, we’ll refund your tuition in full. Please note: In the past, we have offered class credit in lieu of refunds. We are no longer able to offer this option. Each class tuition payment will stand on its own, and is non-transferable.
