About this Event

Class Time/Date: 4-6pm / Mon.-Thurs., July 27, 28, 29 and 30

Schedule: 4 sessions plus 2 performances at 7:00pm on July 31 and August 1!

Class size: 18 students maximum

Class length: 2 hours (6 hours total) +2 performances

Prerequisites: Completed BATS Foundation Level courses (or equivalent with other groups). Studio Scenework and BATS Performance Level courses desired. However, prior experience performing improv with BATS and elsewhere is acceptable.

Tuition: $250

Join an ensemble of experienced improvisers to rehearse and perform the BATS new online format: EvesDropping. This class will include focus on truthful improv. Giving space to your partners. Explicit scene starts. Work on solo scenes, two person and group scenes, culminating with a showcase performance.

About Rebecca

A co-founder of BATS Improv, Rebecca was the Dean of the BATS School of Improv from 1992 to 2003. Rebecca has been designing and teaching improvisation workshops since 1984.

Rebecca has her BFA from the University of Washington Professional Actor Training Program. She has lead improvised theatre workshops for American Conservatory Theatre Advanced Training Program, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, and the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre.

Rebecca’s first improv group was the Grey Family Players in 1972. She has improvised with the Other Cafe Players, Seattle Theatresports, Out of the Blue, Out of Line, Pulp Playhouse, True Fiction Magazine, Eat the Apple, and Fratelli Bologna. Rebecca has played Theatresports™ in more than 20 cities on 4 continents. She loves performing and directing Keith Johnstone’s Gorilla Theatre, Life Game, and Micetro and she has been instrumental in starting Theatresports in several cities.

Rebecca’s book, Improvisation Through Theatre Sports, provides a curriculum for teaching improvisation to young people.

Rebecca is a pioneer in the application of improvisation to the world of business. Clients include Apple, Stanford University, Pixar Animation Studios, and Telltale Games.

Refund Policy:

BATS Improv Class Refund Policy: Class cancellation policy: If you cancel more than 96 hours (4 days) before a class begins, we will refund your tuition less a 15% processing fee. If you cancel within 96 hours (4 days) of your first class, your tuition will be forfeit. Summer Youth and Adult Sessions cancellation policy: If you cancel more than 14 days (2 weeks) before your first class, we will refund your tuition less a 15% processing fee. If you cancel within 14 days (2 weeks) of your first class, your tuition will be forfeit. All cancellation and refund requests must be emailed to registrar@improv.org, and include the title and start date of your class. In the event that we cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, we’ll refund your tuition in full. Please note: In the past, we have offered class credit in lieu of refunds. We are no longer able to offer this option. Each class tuition payment will stand on its own, and is non-transferable.
