Expand your understanding of the unique characteristics of federal financial processes and the special accounting and reporting practices they require. You'll explore the underlying objectives of federal financial reporting and management tools available to help you make better decisions. Key learning objectives of this course include:

  • The unique characteristics that necessitate special accounting and reporting practices
  • The objectives of federal financial reporting and the finance tools available

Upon completion of this course, you should understand and be able to:

  • Gain an understanding of key objectives of Federal Financial Reporting, the form and content of Financial Reports
  • The types of accounts maintained, federal reporting entities budgets and impact of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board

This course is targeted towards federal workers and government contractors impacted by the shutdown.


Faculty

Janet Faughnan holds an active license to practice accounting in Virginia (CPA). She earned her undergraduate accounting degree in three years from Miami University in Oxford Ohio,1982 ( BSBA- Accounting) and her Masters in Business Administration-Finance Cum Laude from George Washington University in 1988. Faughnan has over thirty-five years in professional accounting practice and accounting education experience.

She has developed curriculum and teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate business programs and executive education. She has taught in the EMBA, MSM, MSA, and undergraduate programs at George Mason.
