Oneness Does Not Mean Sameness: Anti-Racism, Self-Esteem, and the Truth about Spiritual Healing

“Though race is a vital aspect of our identity as African Americans, we cannot know ourselves fully if we look only at race. Looking at ourselves holistically, seeing our emotional well-being as rooted both in the politics of race and racism as well as in our capacity to be self-defining, we can create the self-esteem that is needed for us to care for our souls. Our continued survival as African-American people, in solidarity with non-black allies in struggle, demands that we care for our souls so that we can be whole and complete. If we begin with self-esteem our success is assured.” - bell hooks

The Universal Truth Center Adult Education Ministry in partnership with the South Florida People of Color presents "Oneness Does Not Mean Sameness: Anti-Racism, Self-Esteem, and the Truth about Spiritual Healing," a community dialogue and workshop.

This event, based on bell hooks' book Rock My Soul: Black People and Self Esteem, is open to the public and will be led by UTC licensed teacher Tawnicia Ferguson Rowan and SFPoC facilitator Jordana Hart. All are welcome!

Books will be available for purchase at the UTC bookstore.
