About this Event

“One Word Sawalmem is a film of great power and purpose. It explains the Indigenous understanding and knowledge of the interdependence amongst all life on this planet.”

-- Dr. Stephanie Pratt, Dakota and Anglo-American art historian and cultural consultant, Native Spirit Film Festival

Co-directors, Michael “Pom” Preston, member of the Winnemem Wintu tribe, and Natasha Deganello Giraudie will be joining us for a special (online) screening and conversation about healing our relationship with the Earth.

We will be showing their new short film, One Word Sawalmem, and having a dialogue with you around the powerful fountain of hope to be found at the intersection youth, climate resilience and indigenous wisdom.

The film was selected as a finalist in the Tribeca Film Institute short film program is fiscally sponsored by Robert Redford and the Redford Center and was selected for 15+ film festivals since its release in March 2020.

The film is for all ages, but the conversation around the film, is best suited for age 12+ and adults. Guests are welcome.

Bring your curiosity as well as your sensitive questions. We're looking forward to engaging in a rich and meaningful dialogue.
