About this Event

WHO IS JOE BAGEL?

Copywriter by day. Blogger by night. Writer of verse in the inbetween hours. Joe Bagel is the terror of Montreal social media, first making a name for himself by starting a citywide bagel war. After getting replaced at his blog job by an autonomous shitposting robot, Joe Bagel tried his hand at real journalism, but was stopped short by the CBC, who called his attempts "semi-literate" at best. Undeterred, he took to poetry, becoming the first Poet Laureate of Tinder. His efforts were hailed as "Genius" by Esquire Magazine, but after being heckled in the comments section of a Daily Mail article—and then banned from Tinder entirely—Joe Bagel retired from poetry and got a job writing tweets for Cinnabon.

Lured out of the overcarbohydrated abyss by his friend, the bewitching Montreal-turned-Torontonian Rhiannon, Joe Bagel quit his job at Cinnabon, abandoned his Montreal ratnest, and started sleeping under a desk at Grand Canyon Theatre while working on his comeback attempt: Trapped in Elon's Mansion. Based on a true story, it details the rise and fall of the hallucinating chainsaw maniac "Elon Musk", also known for his roles in running Tesla, SpaceX, PayPal, Neuralink, Solar City, and The Boring Company.

Trapped in Elon's Mansion is a cybercomedy, written in Shakespearean verse. It is the first new verse play to open in North America in over one hundred years.

After sold-out runs in Montreal and Chicago, Elon is coming to Toronto. Finally.

Run-time should be ~60 to 90 minutes. All patrons of the arts are welcome to arrive a little tipsy. Every attendee gets a copy of the book.
