About this event
Kick off the weekend as we celebrate the Limited Release of Okó! For ONE NIGHT ONLY we will be at Metrobar pouring our latest beer collab. Pair a cold glass with sounds from our very own DJ Easy, spinning Afrobeats and Dancehall to wash away the weekday worries.
This beer is a collaboration between DC based Sankofa Beer Company and Brooklyn Based, Brooklyn Brewery.
Beer Description: Okó Farmhouse Ale, 6.5% Abv, This spicy, fruity farmhouse ale, is made with red and black rice courtesy of the Jubilee Justice Black Farmers Rice Project. This beer was carefully crafted and brewed by Kofi Meroe, founder and head brewer of Sankofa Beer and world renowned Garret Oliver, Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery.
Label Text: "TRADITION SAYS THAT OKÓ, YORUBA GOD OF THE SOIL AND THE LAND, HAS BLESSED AFRICAN FARMERS FOR 3,000 YEARS. IN LOUISIANA, THE FARMERS AT JUBILEE JUSTICE CONTINUE THE ANCIENT PRACTICE IN CONCERT WITH THE EARTH. THIS SPICY, FRUITY FARMHOUSE ALE MADE WITH THEIR RED AND BLACK RICE, REMINDS US THAT, WHEREVER WE ARE PLANTED WE SHALL GROW"
