Event Details

Breakneck Ridge and Mt. Taurus in New York's Hudson Valley is one of the nation's leading local day hikes according to one of the top online hike sites. If you have not heard yet, Breakneck trails are closing down as of January 1, 2018. There is no date for it to reopen but it looks like it could be closed for at least two years.

If you love rock scrambles, challenging your personal best, need a breathtaking day outdoors with amazing vistas look no further .. this is it! This may be your last chance to hike the most popular and challenging rock scramble hikes within 90 min of NYC that is also public transportation accessible (Metro North will also discontinue stopping at Breakneck and all parking areas along Rt 9D are being closed).

Breakneck rock scramble with Powermastery

Sweeping views of the Hudson River, impressive overlook of Bannerman's Castle, humbling facade of Storm King across river, and spiraling vertical from the top.. the views are here. Just 80 minutes from NYC.

This is a testament to your ability to have fun while challenging your inner limits and pushing your outer limits. You must be in good cardio condition.

Our hike is approximately 6-8 miles along the ridge after we summit Breakneck, then head to Mt. Taurus (aka Bull Hill, our final summit before descending back down to Earth). Afterwards we head out to a refreshing undwind and social bite and brew in the quaint town of Cold Spring before heading back to the the urban jungle. Rock scrambles guaranteed.

Date: SATURDAY, October 21, 2017 (weather permitting)
Time: 9:00am (this may seem early to some but when you have had to wait for long periods due to the bottleneck going up Breakneck, run short on parking spots or come out as light is fading you begin to appreciate why starting earlier has its benefits)
