Description

MEXICO'S BLOOD POURS IN BERLIN

Adrian Sierra Garcia, has been invited to create a series of artistic works inspired by the newly built wall that divides Mexico and the United States.

The request was made by Yasmine Benhadj-Djilali, architect, curator, and owner of Benhadj&Djilali Gallery in Berlin.

Entitled One Day Berlin, the works of art feature a set of dynamic light and sound-based environments at the gallery space and urban interventions in the city.

In One Day Berlin, Adrian Sierra Garcia will transform the way we perceive and occupy time and space at the Benhadj&Djilali Gallery, alluding to the life threatening challenges people experience as they cross the frontier “la linea,” and invest a building façade with an omnipresent foreign object reflecting on the violent nature and intruding character of the wall.

Growing up in Tijuana, Mexico and Los Angeles, California, and spending numerous years in Paris, France has given Adrian Sierra Garcia a deep understanding of the need, and a unique perspective on how to connect cultures to each other and the people to their community and environment.

With One Day Berlin Adrian Sierra Garcia wishes to tribute all those inflicted by the 'iron curtain' that separates the two nations. At the same time, the international artist would like to sensitize the general public of the human atrocities happening along the dangerous border.

Site-specific art performances at the gallery and in the public sphere, as well as, punctual panels discussions will follow.
