Description

Join the City of West Hollywood's Arts Division on Wednesday, May 22, for the kick-off of the One City One Pride LGBTQ Arts Festival and official City celebration of Harvey Milk Day featuring a free staged reading of Patricia Loughrey's Dear Harvey. The reading is produced and directed by Michael Shepperd of Celebration Theatre, LA's oldest LGBTQ theatre. This reading will start at 7:30pm, and be preceded by a reception (6:30-7:30pm) with light food and refreshments. During the reception, there will be two poetry pop-ups themed around this year's One City One Pride theme, "Love is Love."

6:30-7:30pm: RECEPTION with:

  • Let Love Flourish, Queer Poetry Pop-Up, featuring performances of poetry by LGBTQ poets by Jason Jenn
  • Everyone Deserves (A) Love (Poem), interactive art installation, where anyone can request a love poem to be written for them or someone they love organized by Brian Sonia-Wallace aka RENT Poet

7:30-9:30pm: DEAR HARVEY featuring:

  • Emmy, GLAAD Media, and APLA Hero Award winner Bruce Vilanch
  • RuPaul's Drag Race star and trans activist Gia Gunn
  • Parnell Damone Marcano
  • Brittney Wheeler
  • West Hollywood City Poet Laureate Charles Flowers
  • Arts & Cultural Affairs Commissioner J. Dallas Dishman

Due to attrition, City of West Hollywood Arts events are sometimes overbooked to ensure capacity. Therefore, seating is not guaranteed based on RSVP status. If a venue reaches capacity, we will be unable to admit guests, regardless of RSVP status.
