What if churches did something to make sure every child had a home?
This is what One City. One Hope is about. Every year, churches from around DC gather to pray for the children and families of Washington, DC. It’s a time to hear from people actually fostering and caring for families, to hear from those who lived in foster care, and to remember that we as churches are called to act on behalf of the vulnerable children and families in our communities. This year, TL Rodgers, pastor emeritus at Triumphant Church, will be joining us as well! Check out his bio below.
Childcare will be provided, and there will be light refreshments after the event.
We hope you can join us and invite a friend!
Pastor TL Rogers:
The “life verse” of Pastor TL Rogers is 2 Corinthians 4:5, “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake”. His desire is to serve those to whom God calls him to minister and he believes that this is best accomplished by discipling those people in the Word of God.
TL Rogers was born in New York City, New York and was reared in Washington D.C. He was led to the Lord at a very early age and was discipled through the ministry in a Christian home. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religious Education from Washington Bible College and has completed much of his graduate work at Capital Bible Seminary. Pastor Rogers is married to Mable Perrin Rogers, and they are the proud parents of two adult children, both of whom are married, Tiffany Joi, Perrin Dior, and six grandchildren.
Although he began his vocational career as a letter carrier, his prayer for ministerial guidance was answered in the home of the late Pastor George Rogers. In February of 1976, he was licensed and ordained to preach. Pastor Rogers has ministered at the Isle of Patmos Baptist Church and pastored the St. Stephens Baptist Church (both in Washington, DC) and the Union Bethel Baptist Church (King George, Virginia). He is the former Pastor of The Triumphant Church in Hyattsville, Maryland, which he planted in May of 1987 and retired on November 4, 2012. Additionally, he and his wife Mable developed “Triumphant Relations”, a ministry to help strengthen relationships of all kinds. He has also published one book on relationships, “Successful Spouse Selection”
He is a gifted musician and singer, and also a popular conference and workshop speaker. He has traveled extensively, and has ministered in Korea, Japan, West Germany, Africa and the Philippines.
Most recently, after 33 years of successful and fruitful pastoral ministry Pastor Rogers retired from the pastorate of the Triumphant Church and has “passed the baton” of pastoring The Triumphant Church to his son, Pastor Perrin Dior Rogers. He has begun fathering and coaching younger pastors as well as assisting his son in the ministry of Triumphant.
