  • Are you longing to join or reconnect with your local NVC community or simply have fun?


Family HEART Camp, and thePeace Circle Center are excited about co-sponsoring our fifth annual Memorial Day Weekend Gathering, which is open to the entire NVC community and friends

Coming from the West:

  • Take the Maryland Bay Bridge East towards Delaware and the Eastern Shore US 50E

  • Stay to the right at the 301/50 split

  • Turn left at the MD 404E intersection

  • Right exit onto MD 313N

  • Left at bottom of exit ramp.

  • Right at flashing signal for MD 317E

  • At the state line, the road will change to DE 14

  • Left on Fox Hunter’s Road, continue straight until road ends at a T intersection

  • Left on Hopkins Cemetery Road

  • Straight through the stop sign

  • Drive about 1 mile, FARM on Left side of the road

Organizational Contribution and Fundraiser for Family HEART Camp WV

This Community Weekend is offered as a way to gather our various communities from Peace Circle, Family HEART Camp, Capital NVC, and other regional NVC groups. We hope to sustain our organizers and cover our base costs (snacks, lodging costs, water/port-a-potties, etc.) and raise funds towards Family HEART Camp West Virginia, our local NVC summer camp (June 22-June 29, 2018 at Abrams Creek, WV:www.familyheartcamp.org)

 

CONTRIBUTION REQUESTS: These are per family and we request that you contribute to your most joyful and highest capacity to help us continue organizing these events. Any funds raised over organizers/hosts costs and support will be donated to Family HEART Camp WV towards scholarships.  

 

DAY CAMPERS: $20-$50/day/family

OVERNIGHT/TENTING CAMPERS: $40-$70/day/family

 

TO REGISTER: Get your Tickets below and choose your own contribution pricing. Fill out the liability form sent in post-registration email and bring printed with you. ANY level of contribution is welcome, and no one is turned away for lack of funds. Email Mali or Rose if you want connection around this. Thank you!

 

ACTIVITIES / SCHEDULE

 

DAILY ACTIVITIES:

There is no official programming nor staff at this camping trip (unlike Family HEART Camp), and we co-create the weekend as a community with any and all members of any age contributing all sorts of offerings for each other.

 

Community Sourced Offerings: In the spirit of Family HEART Camp/Peace Circle’s Open Space activities, we invite anyone to make offerings of  their talents, joys or interests. Some offerings might include face painting, nature art, peace flag creations, musical opportunities (bring your instruments!), peace garden planting, hula hooping, capture the flag, t-ball/woofle ball, yoga, empathy sessions, discussion circles, NVC/RJ parenting workshop, healing modality sessions (sound healing, reiki, massage, etc..), group Family Constellation, music/dance party, and more...

 

 

 

We also invite NVC practitioners to support and offer their hearts in a “Compassion Carnival” on Sunday afternoon.

With our intention to live within Nonviolent Communication and Restorative Justice principles, we invite and will look at offering NVC-based games and explorations that will support your family to learn and integrate NVC.

 

TENTATIVE SCHEDULES

 

FRIDAY: Possibility of early early arrivals Friday evening to set up your tent. Please contact Rose to coordinate.

 

SATURDAY

8 am: Early Arrival Possible for Tent Campers and anyone wanting to eat their lunch together around noon-ish.

 

1pm OfficialOpening Community-Led Circle (we will introduce each others, feel free to share any collaborative games, songs, etc…)  + Community Sourced Offerings announcements

 

Afternoon: Community-Led Offerings.

 

5pm Evening Circle, community sharing/connection.

 

6pm Dinner Potluck

 

8pm Bonfire  (Smores and music) / Depart to overnight accommodations

 

10pm Request for Quiet Time

 

SUNDAY

 

11am  Opening Community-Led Circle (we will introduce each others, feel free to share any collaborative games, songs, etc…)  + Community Sourced Offerings announcements

 

Morning/Lunch: Activities and communal lunch.

 

Afternoon: “Compassion Carnival”: we invite anyone to offer NVC-related activities or explorations “stations”.  Examples are Empathy Labyrinth, Power-Reversal Game, Emotions/Needs Charades, “Build Your Home”, etc…

 

5pm Evening Circle, community sharing/connection.

 

6pm Dinner Potluck

 

8pm Bonfire  (S’mores!*  and music) / Depart to overnight accommodations

*Bring your own Smores if you want less sugar/vegan options. We will provide a few bags of regular smores, chocolate and crackers.

 

10pm Request for Quiet Time


MONDAY

10am Closing Community Circle + Offerings Announcement

 

Daytime: Any activities + communal eating.

 

1-2pm:  Clean-up and Departures

 

LOGISTICS

 

FOOD

This is a bring/store/cook-your-own-food weekend. Bring personal coolers to store your items. A general store is 10 min away with ice to refill.  

Eating is often communal/potluck-style.

Barbecues, induction burners, and a large boiling pot  will be available as well as a bonfire.

Bring your own dishes, cutlery, glasses, etc.

Washing stations will be made outdoor and will need community help to set up and get down.

Suggestion to bring marshmallow roasters for any who want to participate.

 

SOME SNACKS will be provided Sat/Sun.  We will try to have an assortment of options: fruit, cheese, crackers, nuts (labeled and separate), chips, salsa, hummus, veggies…things in this sort of area. Feel free to add your own culinary specialty to share. If you have any strong allergies, please let us know ahead of time. Cold water or Cold Tea provided throughout the weekend.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS / LODGING

This weekend is open to be joined at any moment, for an afternoon or for the 2+ days.

The weekend is hosted on a PRIVATE property and as such, all families are requested to fill out a liability release form through our main organization, Family HEART Camp.  Please complete and bring with you on the weekend of.

Families are requested to find and secure their lodging independently of the organization of this weekend.

Daytime Toilets: We will have a port-a-potties, and we request the port-a-potties be the primary lavatory for all attendees. There are 2 toilets in the house but request to use main level only, and limited use only.


This is mainly an outdoor weekend. Bring your own canopies or share anything that would make inclement weather more comfortable.

 

There is a barn that will be open for community gathering/activities and that can contain about 20 people, a pole barn that can accommodate several smaller groups, and a hayloft for the more nimble amongst us.

 

  • Tent Camping Options at Rose’s

Tent-camping and limited RV campers at Rose’s are welcome. Coordinate with Rose as soon as possible (max 15# of tent)

Extra contribution requested of $20 to cover logistics.

Showers for Overnight Tent Campers Only, please speak with Rose:

There will be access to one shower inside Rose’s house. Request for short showers to conserve hot water. Please see Rose to set up a time.

Rose’s house usable space will be outdoors, specifically the areas which are not currently planted in crops. There is very limited space inside the house, and guests are requested to stay on the main level of the house.

Rose’s place will be open as early as noon on Friday and  8am on Saturday for yourself to set up your tent.

Mali Parke at the Peace Circle Center and Core To Coeur Coaching

Mali is an ICF Certified Professional Coach,  a facilitator and trainer in Collaborative Communication/Dialogue and Leadership, Inner Empowerment/Self-Esteem, Conflict Resolution/Transformation, Restorative Practices, Mediation, Nonviolence, Mindfulness, Peace Education and Trauma-Informed Attachment Healing.

Her approaches come from integrating years of studies and practice in Nonviolent Communication(NVC),  Restorative Practices/Justice, Family/System Constellations, Positive and Conscious Discipline to parents/educators/youth, Leadership Coaching, Mindfulness, Yoga and her love of any brain science topics, Attachment Theory and Interpersonal Neurobiology.

Mali founded the Peace Circle Center (www.peacecirclecenter.org) in 2013, a cooperative of local professionals focused on serving youth, parents, caregivers, educators, groups and individauls with restorative, empathic, and empowering aprpoaches to increase peacemaking skills, conflict transformation, collaboration and cooperation at home, in schools, in the office, in the world.

You can follow her private coaching practice at www.core2coeur.com. She also is a co-organizer/trainer at the NVC Intergenerational Summer Camp, Family HEART Camp West Virginia (www.familyheartcamp.org). 

Mali lives in DC most of the year with her two best teachers and mentors in life: her two DC-schooled children and in Europe each Summer to reunite with her family of origin.
