Event description
Join us on the 61st floor of the Salesforce Tower to honor San Francisco storytellers. This event supports our Education Programs.

About this Event

The San Francisco Historical Society is proud to host an event in the Salesforce Tower benefitting our Education Initiative, Discovering SF. Help us engage the next generation of history lovers and storytellers at this splendid event 1,000 feet above the City. Enjoy a signature San Francisco cocktail, Pisco Punch, and delectable small bites as you view the City from its highest point. Explore the City's history through casual dialogue with some of its best authors and storytellers.

At the event you'll meet these prominent San Francisco storytellers and historians:

Carl Nolte is a fourth-generation San Franciscan and a legendary chronicler of the City’s every move. His column “Native Son” is a fixture in the Sunday Chronicle.

Gary Kamiya is author of bestseller Cool Gray City of Love: 49 Views of San Francisco and the Chronicle history column “Portals of the Past.” His work weaves past and present.

Ruth Carlson holds the city’s secrets. Lucky for us, she has shared them in her book, Secret San Francisco: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure.

Daniel Bacon is the creator of the Barbary Coast Trail, a 3.8 mile walk through San Francisco’s most historic places, including celebrated landmarks and hidden treasures.

John King, the Chronicle's noted urban design critic, will attend the VIP reception.

You will also meet future storytellers, the 2019 Fracchia Prize Winners. These high school students wrote winning essays about how the history of their neighborhood effects their life today.
