Description

Part of the Trans-Border Opportunities Certificate

How can governments and NGOs address the challenges of migration and deportation in Tijuana? What difficulties do organizers face, and how are they working together to deal with a mounting humanitarian crisis? How does the constant flow of people to the border affect society in Tijuana, and how are new arrivals integrated into the city?

This field seminar will visit organizations working with migrants and deportees in Tijuana, including shelters, soup kitchens, and support offices. Participants will learn about the conditions that led to the crisis, and talk to the activists who are attempting to create positive change.

This is the first field seminar in the Trans-Border Opportunities Certificate. For a discounted rate, enroll in the full certificate by June 14.

More information about the certificate is available at: https://www.sandiego.edu/peace/programs/border-certificate/
