In this session, three presentations will highlight important issues raised for advocates in the wake of the Pandemic including: How telehealth is shaping the future of medicines and how this impacts care and the advocate’s role; How and why advocates must demonstrate their value; and How advocates can overcome obstacles by applying a MOVE mentality.

Objectives:

  1. How do providers triage clients for telehealth appointments.
  2. Learn how to apply the MOVE mentality (Manage your Opportunities for your Vision to Empower).
  3. Understand what value-based metrics are in measuring advocacy services.

About the Presenters:

Io Dolka, MS, Founder and Chief Care Advocate, GreyZone, LLC-Io is Founder and Chief Care Advocate of GreyZone LLC, a medical advocacy company helping people with difficult to diagnose, rare and complex medical conditions find answers and improve their quality of life. Io formed GreyZone after experiencing as a patient how complicated it was for those with chronic and complex medical conditions to obtain an accurate diagnosis of their symptoms. Io has been devoted to supporting diagnostic improvement and patient advocacy efforts for more than a decade.

Anne Llewelyn, MS, BHSA, RN-BC, CCM, CRRN, Nurse Advocate / Digital Journalist- Anne Lewellyn is a registered nurse with over forty years of experience in critical care, risk management, case management, patient advocacy, healthcare publications and training and development. Anne has been a leader in the area of Patient Advocacy since 2010. She was a Founding member of the Patient Advocate Certification Board and is currently serving on the National Association of Health Care Advocacy Board. Anne writes a weekly Blog, Nurse Advocate, to share stories and events that educate and empower people to be better prepared as they enter the healthcare system.

Deidra Kindred, RN, BSN, LNC, FCN, BCPA, CEO Your Nurse Advocates-Deidre Kindred loves educating individuals and families with the right information to make the right choices for themselves. She has over 15+ years experience in Cardiovascular Intensive Care, former owner of Affordable Assisted Living & Services, 5+ years as a home health nurse, 3+ years as a home care infusion nurse and 3 years as a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. She has always felt that the healthcare system can be an intimidating world for those who are not healthcare professionals. She experienced this professionally and personally when her mother became ill and was battling MS, Parkinson's, Cancer, Asthma and Dementia.
