Event description

The Webinar is over; watch the recording:

One of the first things you learn about Python objects is that there are some "magic" methods — methods that you're not generally going to invoke directly, but which affect the object's behavior. The two best-known of these are probably __init__ (which adds attributes to a newly created object) and __str__ (which is used when we want to get a string back from an object).

In this free, one-hour Webinar, I'll review and explore a number of Python's magic methods, starting with some simple ones (for simple operators), moving onto more advanced ones (for truthiness and equality), and then showing how our objects can behave when hashed, pickled, or formatted.

The Webinar assumes a basic understanding of Python objects, and will touch on some intermediate concepts. It's open to all Python developers, and there will be plenty of time for Q&A. Join me for what should be a lot of fun! If you have any questions, please contact me at, or on Twitter at @reuvenmlerner.

We'll be using Google Hangouts On Air for the Webinar. I'll e-mail the Hangouts link to all participants about an hour before we begin.
