Event description

Description

Join AAJA-LA for its annual holiday party and art auction, featuring L.A.’s top news photojournalists.

It’s one giant affair with music, food, drink and art. The setting will be ABC7 anchor David Ono’s Toluca Lake house, where Hollywood legend has it that Bing Crosby composed his famous arrangement of “White Christmas” there. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.

The photo auction will be the centerpiece of the night. Every photo will be signed and framed. The basic frame size is 16×20 with 11×14 images, although many have been printed to slightly different dimensions. Starting price is $80. Dozens of news photographers have donated their works, and each piece has been printed with archival inks and paper to ensure they will last well into the next century.

The prize of the night will be a signed print of AP photographer Nick Ut’s iconic “Napalm Girl.”

Many of the photographers will be at the exhibit and ready to discuss composition, technique and gear!

While you’re looking through the dozens of photos, enjoy the food, drink and entertainment provided by David Ono. As in past years, our designated charity is the “Spark of Love” Toy Drive, presented by ABC7 and Southern California Firefighters. Don’t forget to bring an unwrapped toy to the event. A $5 donation at the door is suggested.

We’re encouraging everyone to Uber/Lyft to the exhibit to keep the street parking situation manageable.

Space is limited. RSVP is required; the deadline is midnight Thursday, Nov. 30.

Location of the event will be distributed to RSVP list two days before the event.

Hope to see you there!
