Description
ON ALL Eve - Figuring the Volume of a Utopian Cylinder, invites you to walk under the waxing sturgeon moon, reflecting on the end of the Llano del Rio utopian socialist experiment in the Antelope Valley with Karyl Newman, arriving at the silo ruin for a tranquil soundbath to contemplate our next steps with local artists Jean Monte, Moriah Cain Gross and Kristen Cramer. This ticketed event, co-produced by Positional Projects and LAUNCH LA, was conceived by participants in the ON ALL Day event on May 6th, 2017. Each guest receives a limited edition guide/map. Please view the accompanying online exhibit made possible by California Humanities and Arts Connection at http://bit.ly/4AllonLlano. ON ALL Eve is part of Maiden L.A., a decentralized county-wide network of 'happenings' throughout the month of August.
Space is super limited - the soundbath is inside the silo! Only ticketed guests may participate. Reserve your place at 7:00, 8:00 or 9:00PM.
FAQs
Does the event involve water?
No. But you should bring plenty to drink.
If I don't have a ticket - can I visit anyway?
No. The event takes place on private property in a small space, reservations and waivers are required in advance to preserve the location, enjoyment of participants and property owners.
I attended the ON ALL Day event - will this experience be different?
Yes! Building on her research at the Beinecke, Newman will share the state of affairs at the colony in August, 1917, as they decided the future of their utopian vision, based on newly discovered documents. The soundbath will take place at dusk, twilight and as the stars come out, providing a different view of the evening sky with new compositions by Monte, Gross and Cramer.
May I arrive early or hang around after?
No - not in the Silo and walking tour area, to ensure other guests have the silence and space to enjoy their experience. We ask you arrive for the tour and depart the soundbath promptly. However - please explore our online exhibit beforehand and make time for a self-guided tour of the surrounding ruins by car at http://bit.ly/4AllonLlano. If you'd like recommendations on where to go or stay before or after - just ask! There's more unique history nearby.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Guests must be 18+ or accompanied by an adult if 12+ - as everyone is required to sign a waiver to participate.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Please follow the directions included in your confirmation email.
What can I bring into the event?
Please bring water and a warm layer as the desert evenings can be cool and windy. Just as the Silo amplifies the sound, a breeze can whip around the space. Perhaps wear socks - you will be asked to remove your shoes inside.
I have some mobility issues or am disabled - can I participate?
Yes. Like the colonists in the desert there are many challenges, but we will find a way. Please contact us via email below to make a plan.
How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Please send an email to kaz@positionalprojects.org.
What's the refund policy?
Refunds are available up to 7 days prior to the event on August 4th.
We look forward to seeing you in the silo!
