Event description

Description

Join us for a history hike in the Olompali State Park. At various times, Olompali has been home to the Coast Miwok, landed gentry, Catholic priests, the Grateful Dead, and even a hippie commune.

Our route features stunning views over the Petaluma River basin, oak woodlands, historic ranch buildings, and a visit to a reconstructed Miwok village. We'll also keep an eye out for early spring wildflowers.

TOTAL DISTANCE
This is an easy to moderate three-mile roundtrip hike.

LEADER
Suzanne Weakley

WEATHER POLICY
Rain cancels.

COST
$8/vehicle park entrance fee (exact change required).

WHERE TO MEET
We'll meet near the main parking lot. There is a restroom near the parking lot. Caltrans has recently reconfigured the entrance to the park. To get to the park now, you must exit 101 at the Atherton-San Marin exit and proceed north on the 101 frontage road on the west side of the freeway.

NOTES

Bring water, lunch, dress in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. Bring poles if you normally use them. If you have questions about this outing email Ken Lavin or phone (415) 543-6771 x 321.
