Event description

Description

Your new City Hall is scheduled to open April of 2017. The City of Olivette, in partnership with the Old Bonhomme School Art Department, is hosting a community art project to commemorate this historic time in our City’s life. The project is the creation of a mosaic tree (made with clay tiles) to be hung in the new City Center. The tree symbolizes our Community’s growth, strength and individualism.

Residents, old and young, are invited to Old Bonhomme School where they will craft a piece of the tree, personalize it, and choose a final color. Students at Old Bonhomme School will complete the glazing and firing of the clay. The pieces will then be assembled into the final project and hung in the hallway of our new facility. Lisa Roth, art teacher at Old Bonhomme School, has generously offered her time and talent to lead this project.

On Sunday, January 29, from 12:00 to 3:00 and, again, on Saturday, February 4, from 9:00 – 12:00, Old Bonhomme School will be open for community members to come and create their piece of the tree. The actual creation of the leaf will take no more than 30 minutes. In order to insure adequate space, we ask that everyone RSVP. Our community is made up of a unique set of residents, business owners and employees, and we encourage everyone to come out and be a part history.

Please direct any questions to Olivette City Manager Barbara Sondag bsondag@olivettemo.com or 314-983-5200.
