Event description

Description

In July 1913 Daniel Bardsley was robbed and murdered in his bookshop on Yorkshire Street. Two local young men, Edward Hilton and Ernest Kelly, were soon apprehended and put on trial. Both were found guilty of murder. But their differing fates led 50,000 people in Oldham to take to the streets in protest…

With professional actors and live music, we will share the findings of the intensive research compiled by members of the local community.

Join us to find out more about ‘The Oldham Murder’ story that was reported as far afield as New Zealand… as we unveil our new exhibition about this fascinating true crime.

Approximately 80 mins. Refreshments available.

This Oldham Libraries event is supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.
