At a time when the population of waiting children is aging into adolescence in ever-increasing numbers, and there are still tremendous biases against teens, it is time to take a look at the reality of finding a permanent family for all teens – why, and how. With a positive belief system and the tools to understand and successfully navigate this sub-specialty within public adoption, any older child can be adopted.
Course presenter: Maris H. Blechner, M Ed, LCSW is an adoption specialist with many years as an educator in the United States and Canada, also doing hands-on adoption work. She is presently an adjunct instructor at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College in New York City, and does clinical and administrative consultation, as well as keynotes, conference presentations, and national webinars.
