Event description
Hike the World scrambles Old Rag Mountain for our first hiking event in a US National Park!

About this Event

Join us on Hike the World's FIRST ever hiking event in a US National Park!

The Old Rag Mountain circuit hike is 9.2 miles and is considered to be VERY STRENUOUS. This is Shenandoah's most popular and most dangerous hike. There are numerous switchbacks and steep ascents which lead to some very difficult rock scrambles.

Hikers will be greatly rewarded with a 360 degree view of roughly 200,000 protected acres of Shenandoah National Park.

Download the FREE Old Rag map by clicking here.

PARK ADMISSION: There is a $25 fee for entering the park.

PARKING: Old Rag Fee Station - Currently, there is no fee for parking at this lot. Due to this hike's popularity, the large lot fills up very quickly. That's why we chose to start the hike at 8:00 AM. Our group will be identifiable by a white Hike the World flag.

* BE PREPARED *

The importance of hike preparation, especially for a long and arduous hike like this, cannot be stressed enough. Please refer to the National Park Service for further details on Old Rag prep click here. And, as always, feel free to reach out to a Hike the World rep by emailing us at: info@hiketheworld.com

Please come equipped with plenty of water, snacks, lunch and proper hiking equipment. We also highly recommend not overpacking due to the complexity of movement through the rock scramble section.

We care about our members' safety so in the event of inclement weather, you will be notified of hike changes via email the day prior to the hike.
