In it's 7th year Okrapalooza continues to bring East Dallas a unique okra cook-off with live music, beer, wine, specialty okra dishes. Celebrity chefs come together to present their best okra dishes to compete for the title of Okrapalooza champion of the world.
Last years guests suggested that Okra Palooza was like a food and music festival in San Francisco!
Admission includes okra dish tastings, beer provided by local breweries, live music, and much more. All proceeds benefit the Promise of Peace Community Garden and contribute to the seed to plate movement and programming for at risk youth. Every child deserves to live a hunger free, healthy life!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes, if you buy a ticket online you must bring your printed ticket to the event. Or you may show the ticket on your phone or tablet.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
There will be valet. More information to come later.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Yes, if you intend to consume alcohol a valid I.D. is required. No age limit.
How do "Support an Officer" tickets work?
For each "Support an Officer" ticket purchased, a free ticket will be provided to a Dallas police officer.

Promise of Peace Community Gardens
Promise of Peace, (P.O.P.), Community Gardens is a thriving force in the sustainable food movement that provides horticultural and environmental explorations for folks of all backgrounds. With garden classes, kids camps, and cooking classes P.O.P. inspires participants to live their best healthy life.
Now, at the Emauel location, we will grow to share food with the food pantry at The Emanuel Community Center. We offer free programming for disadvatage chiildren at two of our sites , serving over 500 children a month.
The Bayles Elementary P.O.P. Garden is expanding and is the location of our first "Seed to Soul" program where we wil teach families to grow, harvest and prepare nutritiuos and delicious meals while having meaningful conversations with their families around the food.
P.O.P. is now sustaining four garden sites where equal access to REAL food is a priority.
P.O.P. is dedicated to trasnforming persoectives while providing simple solutions to stagnant circumstances in our urban settings.
P.O.P. is also installing a new farm in West Dallas in partnership with LaBajada Urban Youth Farm.
