Event description

Description

OhioHealth is proud to introduce a “Survivorship lecture series” – an educational lecture with survivors on the topics of their interest. We will offer these lectures on a quarterly basis with our second lecture being"PREVENTION AND DETECTION".

Anyone is at risk for cancer. In the US 1 in 3 men and women are at risk for developing cancer. Cancers that can be prevented or detected earlier by screening account for about half of all new cancer cases in Ohio and those screenable cancers have an 86% 5-year survival rate. Each person has a complex interaction of modifiable and unknown risk factors that can lead to cancer. The best way to prevent cancer is to control or change modifiable risk factors. We can empower you to use what we know about modifiable risk factors, nutrition, exercise, earlier screening and detection and your family history to minimize your risk and detect cancer in its most treatable stage.
