Ohio SBIRT Project Implementation Training
Participants will be trained in all aspects of Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). Participants will examine the current approach to substance use treatment and distinguish it from the SBIRT public health approach to treatment. Participants will learn how to appropriately screen patients for substance use and depression and provide the necessary treatment services to patients engaging in risky behaviors in efforts to delay or preclude the onset of more chronic conditions. Participants will also be trained in the evidence-based practice of motivational interviewing, a way to effectively communicate with patients interested in behavior change.
***This training will fulfill the necessary prerequisites of the SBIRT Training of Trainers course
