The Ohio State University’s Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is hosting: Heritage Language Summit: Embracing Ohio’s Cultural and Linguistic Diversity

This inaugural Heritage Language Summit, with the support from the Ohio Humanities Concil will allow The Ohio State University’s Center for Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (OSU’s CLLC) to enhance Ohio educators’ ability to understand, appreciate, and share the stories of Ohioans who grow up speaking other languages in addition to English.

According to the CLLC’s survey of students’ heritage languages, it is estimated that Ohio speaks over 20 languages. Some of the most common are, Spanish, Arabic, French, Hindi, Chinese, Somali and Telegu. This two-day summit that will draw crucial connections between innovative humanities scholarship, pedagogical approaches, and recent public policy.
