Description

Offshore Well Completion and Stimulation
Using Hydraulic Fracturing and Other Technologies:
Responsible Development and Risk Management

FOCUS:

Well completion and stimulation technologies to develop hydrocarbon resources offshore have evolved over decades. Hydraulic fracturing has become widely known to the public with the intensive development of unconventional resources onshore; however, less understood by the public are other common well completion and stimulation technologies used in offshore operations.

This workshop will explore the unique features of operating in the U.S. offshore environment, including well completion and stimulation technologies, environmental considerations and concerns, and worker health and safety management. The audience and speakers from across government, industry, academic, and non-profit sectors will share information and their perspectives on operational and regulatory approaches to minimize environmental and human risk. They will also examine technical, environmental, and regulatory challenges and opportunities.

Products from the workshop may include a peer-reviewed workshop proceedings, archived webcasts, and opportunities for further work to gather, examine, and communicate topics associated with offshore hydrocarbon development.
