Offline & Online Coding Activities 

Presenter:

Session Outline & Objectives:

This session will cover both offline (no computers or tech required) and online coding activities for grades 3 to 8.

Offline activities are designed to help students develop skills that are useful in mathematics, coding, and general life skills such as: algorithmic thinking, design skills, logic and reasoning, and collaborative skills.

Online activities using Scratch (a free, visual, kid friendly programming language) will also cover the same skills as they apply to coding and creating basic games. A laptop with the ability to connect to wifi will be required for the afternoon online portion.

Audience

Intended for early and middle years teachers. 

 

Prerequisites

  • email account required for Scratch login
  • general use of web browser 

Enrolment Limit: 30

Brandon University Education Building (room TBA)
