Legrand® Wattstopper and Lutron Highlights Important Lighting Control Changes to New Michigan Energy Code

On May 23, 2017 the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs adopted the 2015 Michigan Energy Code (MEC), taking effect on September 20, 2017. This code will be based on ASHRAE90.1 2013 with a few exceptions. We have outlined the most important lighting controls changes with the 2015 Michigan Energy Code.

Here are some of those changes:

  • -Lower lighting power densities,
  • -Required daylighting of multiple lighting groups.
  • -Stricter requirements for occupancy sensors and automatic full off
  • -Commissioning of buildings by a third party for compliance.

The result of these changes will mean significant leaps in energy efficiency and reduction in energy consumption and costs for Michigan.

On October 18, EMI will be hosting a class in Sterling Heights to inform you on changes. You will receive an AIA One Hour CEU as well as lunch will be provided. Free to the first 25 who rsvp below. For more information about these classes or if you would like to schedule a private session for your group, please contact EMI at 586-254-0770.
