October luncheon - Isaac: Entergy’s First Social Hurricane
Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM (CDT)
New Orleans, LA
PRAL New Orleans Presents, "Isaac: Entergy’s First Social Hurricane"
Hurricane Isaac made landfall in Louisiana near the mouth of the Mississippi River on 8/29/12, but more than the winds changed that day. Isaac, as it turned out, was an unprecedented social media event that will undoubtedly inform the way communications are managed during major weather events, especially tropical storms and hurricanes along the Gulf Coast. The customer insights and business intelligence gathered during the week-long storm transformed the way Entergy communicates with its customers and stakeholders. Learn how Entergy weathered their first social media hurricane from those that were on the front lines of the digital battlefield.
Blake Killian, Social Media Director, Zehnder Communications
Blake has built and executed custom social media plans for a host of clients that range from technology to consumer brands. While his e-commerce experience keeps him focused on the bottom line, he knows the importance of keeping up with changing sentiments and crises that can affect clients and their brands. Blake’s philosophy is that at its heart, social media isn’t Facebook and Twitter – it’s interacting with real people, and it starts with an interesting story. Today’s consumers are savvy and know when they’re being sold to, so we can never try to convince them of something that isn't true.
