San Antonio has a wonderful new spiritual center in the making! The process is underway to establish the Tibetan Buddism Center for World Peace San Antonio. Two highly qualified Tibetan monks, Lama Passang Gelek and Geshe Thupten Dorje, will bless the enterprise in an opening weekend celebration.

Center activities are held on the property of a founding supporter, nestled among the hills north of 1604 off of Blanco Road. Located at a private residence, the grounds are only open during scheduled events such as this weekend festival.

Friday — Friday — Rev. Ann Helmke and representatives of the peaceCENTER will share the story of how the peaceCENTER and its 5+ year emphasis towards a Compassionate San Antonio worked to advocate for San Antonio's Mayor and City Council to formally adopt the International Charter for Compassion as a Compassionate City this past June 22nd. Light dinner and refreshments provided. LEARN MORE

Saturday — Lama Passang and Geshe Dorje will conduct the official blessing and ritual puja to mark the opening of the Tibetan Buddhism Center for World Peace - San Antonio. Geshe Dorjee will share a teaching on the essential practices of Buddhism, and an informal box lunch will be provided.

Sunday — All are invited to bring their family pets and companion animals for a Blessing of the Animals by Lama Passang and Geshe Dorje. The event will take place on the center's huge lawn and be kid-and-animal friendly. After the blessing an informal afternoon Tibetan Tea Party will take place on the terrace and deck.

About Us:
SInce 2005, an informal group of San Antonio Buddhist practitioners has been receiving ongoing teachings from Resident Teacher Lama Passang Gelek and Geshe Drakpa—as well as several visiting guest teachers. In 2017 the opportunity arose to re-locate the teaching venue, and to establish a Buddhism Center for all interested persons. The lamas have given the center the name, Tibetan Buddhism Center for World Peace.
