What is the EDCD Waiver? The EDCD, or Elderly or Disabled with Consumer Direction, Waiver is a Medicaid program designed for aging or disabled individuals to receive services in their homes and communities. These services are specifically consumer directed.
Who should attend? Parents/Caregivers and/or Professionals that care for aging or disabled individuals. This is an adult only training, please no children.
Essential PiecesSM Tidewater Workshops are free adult educational programs that meet monthly to provide workshops and educational information sessions to parents/caregivers, professionals, and individuals living with or affected by various disabilities.
*Registration paperwork will be required for new families. New families will be contacted after registering.*
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
No ID required! Just bring your ticket. Each person attending will need to register and obtain a ticket. All attendees must be at least 18yrs or older to attend our workshops. Individuals living with or affected by disabilities are welcome to attend our workshops. Essential Pieces Tidewater currently does not offer supervision or support for those attending. Workshops are open to parents/caregivers, professionals, and/or adult individuals living with or affected by disabilities.
When turning off of Rocklanding drive, please turn into the "Atrium at Oyster Point" parking lot. Please drive around to the back of the building and park in the rear parking lot. When facing the building, you will see a set of double glass doors. To the left of those doors, you will have street access to our building, Lutheran Family Services, Suite 105.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
Currently we do not offer transportation to Essential Pieces Events. However, we recommend accessing public transportation, such as the bus or paratransit at: http://www.gohrt.com/services/paratransit/paratransit-eligibility/
You may park anywhere in the parking lot, except for reserved spots. Please do not park in accessible parking spaces unless you have a valid placard.
Inclement weather notifications:
In the event of inclement weather, this essential pieces workshop may be cancelled. Please check our facebook page via: Essential Pieces Tidewater to check for such notices. Cancellations will be decided no later than 48hrs prior to this workshop event.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
Please bring your own pen and paper if you wish to take notes at our workshop. There are water fountains availiable for your use if needed. Please feel free to bring your own bag lunch/ snacks.

Can I update my registration information?
Yes. If you need to cancel your ticket, we request you cancel your ticket at least 24hrs ahead of time. This will allow others the opportunity to register for our workshop.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
What is the refund policy? Essential Pieces Workshops are FREE.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
