October, 2013: Sunny Ridge Girls' Group: Ages 9-12
Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 6:30 PM - Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 7:00 PM (CDT)
Expressions II: Girls' Group at Sunny Ridge
Does your daughter struggle with peer issues? Or seem to have a difficult time talking about adoption? Does she shut down when you try to talk to her? Sunny Ridge Family Center continues our Girls' Group sessions this fall.
Each session combines fun and a therapeutic component to assist your daughter in gaining more confidence, managing her feelings in a healthy and appropriate way, developing her social skills, and processing adoption-related issues with others who are experiencing similar circumstances. Sessions include team-building exercises/activities, crafts, movie clips, and discussion time. We offer your daughter a fun, safe, and nurturing group with other girls her age. All group sessions are led by Pam Shepard, LCSW, Supervisor of Parent Training and Adoption Counseling Services.
Who: Girls ages 9-12 who were adopted domestically, internationally or through foster care. A concurrent parent support group will take place each evening as well. (10 girls max)
When: Tuesdays, October 8, 22, November 5 & 19, from 6:30-8:00pm
Where: Sunny Ridge Family Center, 270 Remington Boulevard, Suite C, Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440
Fee: $240 for the four-week series or $70 per individual session; we ask that all participants commit to at least two (2) of the four sessions in the series.
Registration: Families who register two girls for the same group will receive a $70 discount.
For families/children registering for the first time, we require a brief phone consultation. This consultation will inform you about the details of the group and provide the group facilitator with needed information about your family and your daughter.
For questions and more information, please call Pam Shepard at (630) 754-4522.
In the event sessions are cancelled in their entirety due to low registration, a full refund will be made. Should individual sessions be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, a make-up date/time will be announced, with no refunds given. All cancellations made by participants must be received by Pam Shepard 72 hours prior to the start of the first session of the group in order to receive a refund.
